Security for businesses with vending machines is a constant challenge, especially when the machines are installed outdoors and left exposed. That is why, when evaluating an investment in this kind of business, it is crucial to consider maintenance costs carefully, because they can become very significant.

With vandalism increasing in many Spanish cities, this concern has grown in recent years.
After suffering different attacks on several of their machines and finding no market solution that could stop these acts, in 2022 the CEO of the startup Vandalstop decided to develop an electronic device capable of scaring off anyone who tried to damage one of those machines, creating the first commercial alarm for vending machines.
As shown in the video, the device has sensors that can detect when the machine receives an impact.
How Does the VandalStop Alarm Work?
The electronic device is a specialised alarm for vending machines. It is installed inside the machine and can detect when it is being struck. The moment an attack is detected, the security device emits a spoken warning explaining that a crime is being committed.

In addition, the device sends an alert to the mobile app so the owner can press the panic button in the app, which triggers an alarm with a much stronger message through the speaker.
This real-time alert on the phone allows the vending machine owner to act quickly by calling the police, starting the security cameras or going to the location in person.

Main Features of the VandalStop Alarm
Full integration with the vending machine
The device is installed inside the machine, so it stays protected and cannot be damaged easily.
Real-time monitoring
The device stays connected at all times to a web server, which in turn connects to the mobile application and provides 24/7 service.
Interaction with the mobile app
The device can both send and receive information in real time through the mobile application.
Panic button
On top of that, the mobile app includes a panic button. Pressing it makes the speakers at the store play a message warning that a crime is being committed, that the police have been notified and that they are on the way.
Tests carried out in different locations show the effect this message has on attackers, making them leave the premises without causing damage. It has also been proven to reduce the chance of those people striking the machine again in the future.
The device is connected to a web server, and its status can be monitored at any time through the mobile app.
How Is VandalStop Doing Today?
Today, Vandalstop sells its device across Europe and has become one of the reference names in the vending machine security market. Many manufacturers already include it in their catalogue as an additional product for the machines they sell.
They are currently working with the RobotUNO team to bring a new version of the VandalStop alarm to market, with new features and functionality.
Some of the new features planned for the next version include a wider range of pre-recorded audios that can be triggered from the mobile app. It will also allow users to speak directly from the application so that this audio is played in real time through the vending machine.
